Angela Perrin took on a more artistic direction after an early career as a physiotherapist. Angela Perrin comments" ...I discovered the joys of watercolour painting . From this point on and largely self taught , I have continued to develop and explore a more personal style that depicts the English landscape both locally in East Sussex and North Cornwall." After initially exploring watercolour in its traditional form, I am now developing the use of pure watercolour pigment on canvas. This has given my work a more contemporary dynamic taking it from a representative stance into something more impressionistic and open to the interpreters imagination. For me painting is like a journey into the unknown. Well thought out plans can often be forgotten as the media itself leads the way into new and exciting territory. The depiction of light and colour in the natural world is an intrinsic part of my creative process and I spend hours building up colour through layers of glazes and washes. I am particularly drawn to the atmospheric light that permeates the beginning and end of the day when the world becomes less vivid and more mysterious and my imagination can become part of the finished painting.

All my life I have painted just about anything. After graduating from Camberwell College of Art I was commissioned to paint murals for an architectural firm and started doing illustrating, model making and scenery painting for advertising agencies with clients such as Ford, Glenlivet and the London Stock Exchange. At the same time I was painting from my own studio and was commissioned to make several dinner services for yacht designer Jon Bannenberg. I have been commissioned to make commemorative bowls for The Queen Mother and the Sultan of Brunei, and designs for companies such as the National Trust, Marks and Spencer and Wedgewood. I have had international exhibitions of paintings and ceramics at Gumps San Francisco, Halls, Kansas City, Saks, New York, Nieman Marcus Dallas and Marshall Fields in Chicago.
