About the Item

Signed lower right, 'W. Zimmer' for Warren William Zimmer (American, 1914-1998) and dated 1982. Additionally signed verso, dated and titled, 'Saskatchewan'. Born in Beloit, WI in 1914. Zimmer studied at the AIC before moving to California in 1939. While living in Sausalito, he made training films for the War Department. After WWII, he worked in San Francisco as a commercial artist and taught at the California School for the Fine Arts. In 1950 he moved north to Mendocino where he continued to teach and paint and to exhibit his watercolors with success for forty years.
