Jaume Mercadé (1887-1967) - Female Nude - Charcoal
Drawing measures 28x23 cm.
Frame size 47x42 cm.
Jaume Mercadé i Queralt (Valls (Tarragona), 1887 - Barcelona, 1967) was a Spanish painter and goldsmith. A disciple of Francesc d'Assís Galí, since 1919 he taught jewelry and goldsmithing at the Commonwealth School of Arts and Crafts. He had his first individual exhibition at the Galeries Laietanes in Barcelona (1916). Initiated in Fauvism, he later received the influence of Noucentisme. His work stands out for its serenity and balance, within a restrained modernity.
In the National Museum of Art of Catalonia you can see some of his paintings as well as some jewels made in collaboration with Emili Armengol i Gall and Manolo Hugué.
