A really striking example with the eye-catching contrast of the brilliant yellow tulips against an inky blue background.
Christopher Ryland's flower paintings are in collections all over the world.
He is an elected Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists and has had many solo exhibitions in London and in East Anglia where he lives. His paintings have won awards, including the President's Award at the annual exhibition of the SBA in Westminster in 2001, and the St. Cuthbert's Mill Award in 2007. Christopher has a BA Fine Art from Goldsmiths, London.
Christopher’s paintings have been widely exhibited at the Barbican; the Medici Galleries; St.David’s Hall, Cardiff; Bosjokloster 2001, Sweden; the Mall Galleries, London; Real Jardin Botanico, Madrid; Anthony Dawson Fine Art, London; Sanderson’s, London; Geras 2000, Austria; Liberty’s, London; the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour; the Royal Society of British Artists; the Royal Horticultural Society - as well as with the Society of Botanical Artists in their annual exhibitions.
His work has also been featured in books and publications including International Artist magazine, Country Life, Artists & Illustrators magazine, Leisure Painter, the Suffolk Journal, and The Art of Botanical Painting by Margaret Stevens. He has also completed commissions for Wedgwood and Royal Doulton.
All of Christophers' paintings are original and are painted using the highest-quality art materials available, including Winsor and Newton Artists Watercolours and Saunders Waterford Watercolour Paper traditionally made from 100% cotton in St. Cuthbert Mill, Somerset.
