A view of a townhouse window on the Greek island of Hydra showing a sunlit row of jars filled with freshly preserved cherries basking in the Aegean sun. Born in Troyes, France in 1946, Evelyne Brigeois grew up in the town of Nimes, east of Paris. She subsequently lived and painted in Germany, England and Spain before moving to the United States in her late twenties. Settling in Idaho, she began a forty-year career as a fine artist, exhibiting widely and with success including, regularly, at both Boise's Art in the Park and Art and Roses Festival. Evelyne Brigeois was also the recipient of numerous national and international awards including from the National Watercolor Society, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Watercolor Society, The Salem Academy Fine Arts Center and the Louisiana Watercolor Society among others. Her work was frequently featured in national publications including 'U.S. Art' and 'American Artist'. Her style combines a precise and delicate realism with a close observation of light- often with with strongly contrasting shadow. Her talent for serene and lyrical composition distinguishes her landscapes and townscapes of her favorite subjects, the Greek Islands, Venice and rural France.
