About the Item
A delightfully delicate and dynamic still life composition in watercolour, by the well-known New Zealand-born artist Kathleen Browne (1905-2007). Likely to have been painted around the middle of her career as an artist, here Browne has depicting a vase overflowing with large pink peonies. The slightly darker wash of the setting retains the focus on the flowers, and fine wisp-like brush strokes add a sense of immediacy and precision to the otherwise impressionistic forms.
Well-presented in a triple washline mount, and distressed silver gilt wooden frame, as shown.
