Ecueils - Watercolor, Contemporary Painting, Seaside
Located in AIX-EN-PROVENCE, FR
Watercolor, Acrylic Painting and Charcoal on paper. Contemporary Painting, Seaside Work Title : Ecueils Artist : Fabien Granet (FR) The work is signed, titled and dated verso. Unique work. Size : H26xW21cm. Museum matting & backing included, framed in a 30x24 cm standard aluminium frame. Born in 1970 the artist lives and works in France. The majority of his drawings and paintings are inspired by the wild landscapes of Brittany in France. " The drawing as a gesture allows me to exploit a (re)mise-en-scene as so many possibilities in the making. Through the quality of drawing as a marker of thought, it is not a question of constructing "dream worlds" but rather of setting up a device that would allow for a conscious dialogue of a certain perception of the real." Fabien Granet is pursuing a research on the perception of the landscape, on our ways of trying to represent it, to understand it, to understand its structures. The drawn "landscapes" are thus as many projections of the artist, which convene and reveal his artistic path, the influences of his culture, his utopias, his dystopian fantasies. Another shift where the quasi scientific concern of objective rigor and the mental construction of an construction of an individual course. The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which The drawing appears in this sense as an act as much as a work which is registered in a research and a quest to pierce the enigma of the real. In his landscapes, Fabien Granet evokes a process of the mind, where shreds and fragments become entangled in a re-arrangement of of reality. Snippets of architecture and geometrical figures draw human and his gaze into it. The landscape is a human creation, but how does human try to perceive it, how does he understand its constructions? what is his mental image of it? Chaos and structure intersect in a paradox of our vision of the world: the artist picks out the sensitive elements in a reflection on the possibilities in the making. A Promised Land - I
Located in Stamford, CT
Presently I am working on a series of charcoal drawings titled “A Promised Land” which is the result as well as a logical progression of my current engagement with art and ecology. The series drew inspiration from my reading of Pranay Lal’s Indica: A Deep Natural History of the Indian Subcontinent (2016). The book’s focus on sheer life force and exuberance stemming out of India’s natural history and the science behind life not only inspired me but also forced me to think deeply about the state of life on the planet. The title, therefore, is ironically suggestive of the way humankind is (mis)treating natural resources to fulfil its unbridled greed. The series across thirty or more drawings attempts to build an apocalyptic vision of life where the natural world and the animals who inhabit it bear the brunt of over-exploitation. The first out of the six drawings which are complete by now shows the dead root-like structure of a tree which looks fossilised and bears the expression of a dissatisfied creature which seems to be stranded on a lonely landscape. The second drawing is that of a neatly fleeced skeleton of a blue whale on a patch of land. The image brings to the forefront issues of poaching and illegal hunting of whales for commercial gains. The third drawing again deals with the same issue but this time the goriness of the misdeeds of humankind is in the shape of a decaying carcass of an elephant. It is half covered in decayed skin and half visible revealing the rib cage. The fourth drawing is a highly metaphorical one where a large pile of elephant tusks is seen neatly arranged and bears an uncanny resemblance with a human pyre. The fifth drawing is that of a synthetic net left on the landscape. The image is a telling account of the ill effects of fishing which results in bycatch thereby impacting the water beds...

Self Love (Town Girl)
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Self Love (Town Girl)" depicts a young lady in a vibrant urban setting, exuding an aura of self-assurance and strength. The central focus of the artwork is the subject's face, beautifully painted with meticulous attention to detail. The artist employs a mix of bold brushstrokes and subtle shading, highlighting the woman's expressive eyes and radiant smile. Her posture and gaze project a sense of determination and self-awareness, symbolizing the journey of self-love and acceptance. The young lady's attire further emphasizes her individuality and confidence. Clad in a fusion of traditional and modern garments, she represents the convergence of cultural heritage and personal identity. The artist's deliberate choice of a diverse range of colors adds depth to the piece, infusing it with energy and life. The vibrant hues convey a message of optimism and celebrate the beauty found within diversity. "Self Love (Town Girl)" is a testament to the power of self-love and acceptance. Through his artwork, Akanmu seeks to inspire viewers to embrace their individuality and celebrate their unique qualities. The young lady portrayed in the piece serves as a symbol of strength, resilience, and unwavering self-belief. In a world that often imposes standards and expectations, the artwork invites us to reflect on the importance of self-acceptance and self-expression. It serves as a reminder that true beauty lies not in conformity but in embracing our authentic selves. By portraying the young lady with confidence and grace, Akanmu challenges societal norms and encourages viewers to cultivate their own inner strength. Furthermore, "Self Love (Town Girl)" prompts a dialogue about the amalgamation of different cultures and the beauty that arises from such fusion. The blending of traditional and contemporary elements in the lady's attire symbolizes the richness of heritage and the freedom to express oneself in a modern world. Akanmu's artwork celebrates diversity and prompts us to appreciate the beauty that arises when different cultures converge. Art possesses the ability to evoke emotions and trigger introspection, and "Self Love (Town Girl)" achieves just that. Akanmu's artwork acts as a catalyst, urging viewers to reevaluate their own self-perception and embrace their unique qualities. It serves as a gentle reminder that self-love is a journey that requires patience, understanding, and acceptance. "Self Love (Town Girl)" has the potential to inspire individuals from all walks of life, encouraging them to embrace their true selves and celebrate their inherent worth. By fostering a sense of empowerment and confidence, the artwork contributes to the ongoing narrative of self-love and acceptance in our society. Oluwafemi Akanmu...

Located in Los Angeles, CA
Robert Lebsack creates artworks using mixed media with ink, acrylic, and charcoal on archival copies of newspapers, textbooks, and sheet music. As a visionary artist, Lebsack weaves thought-provoking narratives, delving into the social and cultural fabric by juxtaposing human subjects and surreal backgrounds. Imbued with layers of headlines, articles, and ads, his street art becomes a powerful platform for addressing pressing societal issues, from materialism and loneliness to environmental shifts and isolation. Lebsack’s artworks tell us stories about ourselves. They can filter our dreams and aspirations while visualizing edgy, half-buried perceptions troubling us about the world around us. Many of his paintings express courage and offer a form of engagement with our continually shifting surroundings. Lebsack created this original 12-inch high and 9-inch wide artwork using mixed media including acrylic paint, ink, and charcoal on sheet music. His imagery is hand drawn with great detail. This artwork is unframed and requires framing to be properly displayed. It is signed by the artist on the front. Convenient delivery is available for those in the local Los Angeles area, and affordable worldwide shipping is available for US and international art collectors. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. In Lebsack's own words, “It’s about new ways of thinking for future generations. Hopefulness in young dreamers and a paradigm shift away from conventional reasoning in thoughts and actions. Some social norms can be good but they can also hold some people back, stunting our growth individually and as a society.” Robert Lebsack received his formal training in illustration, design, and photography at California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a BFA degree in Illustration in 2004. After graduating, Robert went on to work full-time as a studio Artist/Muralist and Commercial Illustrator for an Interior Design Company where he designed graphics and painted murals for restaurants, schools, and universities throughout the country. With his industry experience, Robert moved on to focus on creating fine art. Lebsack's artworks have been showcased in exhibitions across the globe, including New York, Singapore, Zurich, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong, and have garnered praise and captivated major international art collectors, alongside a host of local Los Angeles celebrities.
