About the Item

Alexandra Rozenman's "Talking to a Cat on a Couch" is a 12 x 14 inch contemporary mixed media collage on paper illustrating the love affair between pets and humans. The image features a collage with a variety of textures and colors that come together to create an intriguing composition. In the foreground, a silhouetted figure lies reclined, its smooth, black form contrasting sharply against the textured background. This figure, possibly representing a person in a relaxed state, is complemented by soft, organic lines that suggest movement or flow. Above the figure, a small black cat is depicted, standing in a proud pose atop a yellow section that seems to evoke a sense of elevation or whimsy. The cat adds an element of curiosity and playfulness to the scene. The backdrop features various patterns—some are geometric and structured, while others are softer and more fluid, suggesting a mix of environments. The use of blue in the background signifies openness, perhaps depicting the sky or a tranquil atmosphere. Overall, this image strikes a balance between simplicity and complexity. It evokes themes of leisure, companionship, and the comforts of home, inviting viewers to interpret narratives between the silhouetted figure and the watchful cat. The combination of contrasting elements and textures creates a vibrant and engaging artistic expression. Alexandra Rozenman immigrated to America from the Soviet Union in 1989. Russian, European and American myths of national destiny and private identity take on a utopian dimension as she absorbs and expresses the psychology of otherness as fundamental aspects of her own identity. She wants her art to be like a well-worn military wool blanket that gives you warmth, love, and history. The artist states. Whatever degree of abstraction defines my thinking and visual self-identification it has all to do with the search for my own image in a great existential sea of sweeping change. Rozenman is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, MA.

Sensuous Reclining Black Nude with Interested Cat

A sensuous reclining nude with exaggerated curves touches her nipple. The intimate moment is witnessed by a relishing cat. Of course, the cat has a smile on his face.
