About the Item

This textile work, signed by Arcemont, presents a delicate and intimate approach to mixed media, where each element is imbued with a poetic intention. Rather than simply gluing pieces of fabric and geometric elements together, the artist assembles them with visible, irregular stitches, using wool scraps in varying colors and densities. These stretched threads, sometimes wild, recall the affectionate repairs one might make to a precious object, like a well-worn child’s lovey, patched up by loving hands. The work thus explores the duality of care and fragility, a contrast between strength and vulnerability. The square and circular forms, varying in size, respond to one another. They merge and overlap like fragments of memories, pieces of a story the artist sought to capture. The squares evoke a frame, a more rigid structure, windows open to frozen moments. At the same time, the fluid, organic circle resembles a celestial element—moon, sun, perhaps even an allegory of a mirror revealing the flow of time. The colors, shifting between ochre and burgundy and touches of pink and orange, lend warmth to the tapestry, contributing to the interplay of contrasts and their integration. The yellow, vibrant yet softened, acts as a visual anchor, drawing the eye towards an orange sun, while the darker shades provide visual weight that grounds the composition. The overall effect is one of tranquility and reflection, where each element finds its place, much like the balancing forces of nature. As witnesses, we have the impression that each stitch, each piece of fabric, tells a unique story woven into the thread. This work by Arcemont reveals itself as a tactile landscape, a patchwork of sensations and embroidered recollections that invites the viewer to touch with our gaze what can only be grasped through memory and intimate emotional resonance. Presented in a simple, elegant black frame, the focus remains on the tapestry, allowing its beauty to take center stage.
