'In Parallel' (triptych), 2019 by American artist Barbara Hirsch. Rice paper with acrylic on wood panel, 28 x 51 in. / 28 x 17 in. (each). An abstract mixed media, sculptural work in white on wood panel with bands in colors of yellow, red, and black.
Barbara Hirsch incorporates textural repeating motifs to create depth that are inspired by nature. Using diverse materials including wax, rice paper and found objects and inspired by the natural beauty and seasonal patterns in her Aspen home, the artist effortlessly creates a compelling narrative of color, imagery, and composition.
In 2012, Barbara Hirsch was selected as one of the southeast’s best emerging artists in the prestigious Energen Art Show in Birmingham. She was awarded Best in Show in 1971 and 1972 at the Birmingham Museum of Art; and in 1973 after her work premiered to a sold out show, her career in commissioned art began.
