Brenda Cirioni’s “Mazama 9” is a 37 x 38 (variable) x 1.75 inch mixed-media painting on two birch panels. This gestural abstraction’s lively surface consists of acrylic washes, drips, scrapes and paint skins. The palette includes silver gray, warm deep green, and an eruption of bold gestural brush strokes in charcoal gray and reddish orange. Bright and vivid color makes ‘Mazama 9’ a dramatic focal point for your home.The painting wraps around the sides reducing the need for a frame. It is signed on the reverse, and ready to hang. Cirioni’s first glimpse of Crater Lake rendered her speechless. In her own words the site was “stunningly beautiful and the epitome of transformation”. The massive volcanic eruption of Mt Mazama, 7,700 years ago, which over time created Crater Lake is the inspiration for Cirioni’s new series “Mazama”. Cirioni is a contemporary mixed media painter who combines paint and discarded materials to explore her connection with the natural world. She is in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally. Cirioni is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
