About the Item
This artwork was inspired by Victorian lepidopterist Margaret Fountaine. Described as a natural-born hunter. Whether it was love, adventure or butterflies, her pursuit was relentless and her energy legendary. She emerged from an unremarkable Victorian upringing with an extraordinary drive to self determination which defined her entire life. Unconventional by nature, Fountaine was never cowed by society's structures, or by what was expected, this provided her with many exciting opportunities. The price of her freedom was high but she never regretted her choices. A passionate lover and fearless individualist, her life as founded on the idiosyncratic determination to pursue her own path irrespective of convention.

Chloe McCarrick is a London‑and-Paris‑based fine art photographer and mixed-media printmaker known for her luminous cyanotypes celebrating female pioneers in science, natural history, mythology, and culture. Combining traditional lensless photographic processes with digital collage, metallic leaf embellishment, and archival paper, her work merges historical reverence with contemporary artistic innovation. Drawing inspiration from trailblazing women—Ada Lovelace, Katherine Johnson, Marie Curie, Bessie Coleman—McCarrick spends months in meticulous research, translating each subject’s legacy into haunting, painterly silhouettes in Prussian blue. The cyanotype process itself is a tribute to 19th‑century botanist Anna Atkins, underlining McCarrick’s commitment to elevating forgotten stories through feminist-aligned, analog techniques. A former lecturer in photography and interactive media whose DIY camera-kit experiments began in childhood, McCarrick honed her craft with academic and studio rigor. She’s run workshops and pioneered fresh printmaking methods, layering UV-exposed imagery with gold, copper, and zinc leaf to sculpt textured, multi-dimensional narratives. McCarrick’s work has been showcased internationally—including at Le Salon des Beaux‑Arts (Paris), Affordable Art Fair (London, New York), and The Other Art Fair (London, Los Angeles)—and is held in private and public collections, including the permanent archive of Le Salon des Beaux‑Arts Foundation. Her practice engages interior design and fine art spaces alike; each piece invites viewers into an immersive dialogue with forgotten heroes, forging connections across time, science, and feminine strength.

Living in Present Memory
By James Henderson
Located in New Orleans, LA
Based in New Orleans, James Henderson’s work explores the concept of memory and the idea of ‘home’ as an emotional space, rather than a physical one. Utilizing found imagery and text as a starting point, Henderson collages and layers his mixed media paintings to create a rich background onto which he often adds the silhouette of a figure, an icon of a house, or colorful drawings of children or shapes. The inclusion of imagery from vintage dress patterns...
