Daniel Byrne
SURGE - A three dimensional art work of pinned metallic mackerel

About

This unique and arresting piece captures the rush of energy and movement as a shoal of 1,000 mackerel switches direction, their silver bellies flashing in the sunlight. Each fish is fabricated by hand in robust paper-based materials with a metallic reflective quality, and a further five processes including printing, die cutting, scoring, folding into a 3Dimensional form, finishing and pinning to the back board. This work represents days of precision making, and the result is truly extraordinary and of exceptional quality. Daniel Byrne transforms natures most arresting specimens into living beings by reimagining the poses and formations of real life and translating these into compositions that help us connect with them. He has a focus on the drama of the natural world and the potential of colour and pattern presented in multiples. His work incorporates butterflies, with their varying colours and wing patterns, birds and fish - all lending themselves particularly well to graphic compositions To Byrne, the natural world creates beautiful patterns out of what can seem to be random and chaotic. Yet this chaos is choreographed by the creatures themselves – be it by communication or a shared motivation. SURGE is presented within a frame with beveled inner edge, finished in Farrow & Ball Off-Black, and employing Trueview glass which ensures that while the artwork is protected the viewer has no sense of a barrier to their enjoyment. The artwork is premium framed, labelled, signed and dated by the artist. The artist can be commissioned in scale, subject and frame choice. We would be glad to offer samples on custom and commission enquiries to demonstrate the quality of workmanship and materials, likewise draw up proposals to suit individual requirements. Meanwhile, Guilded presents a professional framework through which to commission the artist, including formal terms and conditions in respect of international consumer rights for peace of mind.
