THE CHRIST (DALI) PLUNGES INTO THE GULF OF NAPLES DAZZLED BY SO MUCH SPLENDOR
This painting is an INNO to "my Naples" that I abandoned for 35 years (I lived in Rome from 1984 to 2018) after the terrible earthquake of 1980. From afar, even in a wonderful city like the capital of Italy, I understood the absolute beauty and values that make Naples an "exemplary" city. The first is to BE BORN and DIE WELL which means with LOVE and HEALTH! Then the solidarity of the Neapolitans towards anyone in need, friendship, loyalty, generosity... all the things that push Christ to detach himself from the cross and dive with a "flight of angels" in the gulf of Naples!
This work is a tribute to Christ by an unbeliever who came to believe in Nature as the realization of "someone" superior to human beings. But it is also the homage to Salvador Dali one of the geniuses of art history!

Maurizio Savini is an Italian sculptor known for making art out of chewing gum. He studied architecture at the University of Rome. In 1989, he attended Gianni Dessì's atelier and in 1992 he held his first personal exhibition in Dusseldorf. Subsequently he participated in numerous group exhibitions, exhibiting abroad - in London, Paris, Taipei, Havana, Lyon and Edinburgh - and in Italy. He has been commissioned as stage designer by Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Salzburg Easter Festival, and held several dozen exhibitions. He was awarded a Cité internationale des arts scholarship by the city of Paris in 2005. The following year he planed two solo exhibitions in Rome: "Low fidelity" for Volume!
