Diana Remeikyte
Textile tapestry by contemporary artist - inspired by Venice architecture

2025

About the Item

Young artist’s innovative textile practice reimagines traditional weaving and embroidery techniques, using colorful threads instead of paint and a tufting gun as her brush. Her large format textile works—meticulously crafted over months—merge innovative artistry with profound conceptual exploration. Artist focuses on themes of settlement, localization, and the materiality of textiles in the post-digital age. Her works draw inspiration from monumental human achievements—whether building a city on water (this particular work - Venice) or constructing a cathedral over centuries (Basilica de la Sagrada Familia) that continues to inspire today. She reflects on themes of belief, perseverance, and humanity’s capacity to achieve the impossible—ideas that inspire her most. Remeikyte is among the youngest artists to have her work acquired by MO Museum, Lithuania’s leading contemporary art institution, and her textile pieces are part of esteemed private collections in Lithuania, Germany, Italy and US. Her work has been featured in prestigious exhibitions at Casa de Vacas (Madrid, Spain), the Anger Museum (Erfurt, Germany), and Zuzeum Art Centre (Riga, Latvia). * The artist's initials – DR – and the year of realization – 25 – are integrated into the bottom right corner using the tufting technique. The artwork comes with an easy-to-use metal hanging system. One strip is securely attached to the back of the piece by the artist, while the matching strip simply needs to be fixed to the wall using three screws. Once in place, the artwork slots in effortlessly and hangs securely within seconds.

Jaal - Kairi (Paisley) - Velvet Edition - Embroidered Tapestry Wall Hanging
Located in Asheville, NC
Jaali: Jaali' of Urdu origin meaning netting, is an ornamental open work originally crafted on wood, metal and stone for interiors. A significant feature of Indo-Islamic art, the Jaali is an intricate pattern ranging from delicate trellises to complex floral layouts. The wall panels depict the interlacing design of the Jaali in mid earth tones on silk. The compositions of flowers and the paisley are embroidered in thread with subtle highlightes of shine. A note on handmade: A handmade product is always appealing due to the irregularities in its workmanship. This is what sets it apart from machine made or computerized; the perfection they offer feels synthetic or artificial. Especially when one speaks of art and craft. These wall panels are works of hand worked embroideries. Imperfections such as an occasional puckering of the base material are expected with the kind of embroidery stitches used. You are assured these artworks are embroidered by highly skilled artisans (it is not possible for craftsmen of lesser experience to create these pieces) The materials used for the embroideries are of superior quality only.
