Fernando Garcia
Broken Turquoise, Abstract Painting

2024

About the Item

Artist Comments
An abstract painting showcases various shades of turquoise, featuring bold, dynamic brushstrokes that create a rich, three-dimensional texture. Sinuous lines and curves weave throughout the composition. To craft this piece, artist Fernando Garcia utilized oil and acrylic paints, oil pastels, and cardboard coated in resin.

About the Artist
Artist Fernando Garcia depicts dramatic abstract scenes where he deconstructs and pares down elements to their simplest form. "I love the challenge of experimenting with new materials and ideas, bringing feeling, harmony, and movement," shares Fernando. Coming from a family of musicians while partially deaf, painting became the expression of his innate musical spirit. His penchant for art led him to attend San Alejandro School of Fine Arts to further master his craft. His concepts revolve around his immediate environment, creating a perfect vision of nature in all its expressions. The methodically flat picture planes give the sense that the compositions do not exist singly but are symphonies of evolution that change and unfold over time. He works at his colorful home studio on a hill, where he can see the sunrise every morning. When he's not painting, he enjoys sungazing, yoga, and running around the park near his residence. Fernando has participated in various art festivals locally and has exhibited his work in France, Cuba, Spain, and the United States.
