Gabriele Mierzwa
Courage - Soft Toned Sensitive Portrayal of Intimate Figures and Graceful Nudes

2015

About the Item

Typical of Gabriele Mierzwa's softly toned academically inspired figurative oil paintings is the sensitive portrayal of dynamic, intimate figures. These sensual moments are powerfully expressed through a sense of spontaneity balanced with layered washes of color. Mierzwa’s main intention is to arrange harmony and beauty. At the center of her artworks is the nude – natural and graceful. The observer is impressed at first glance by her classically rendered figurative drawing followed by the tender color fields and dynamic lines that form the background of her one-of-a-kind works. On further observation, the tangible forms dissolve and lose their contours. The emphasis shifts to the transparently arranged color fields. The observer's fantasy can freely develop within clouds of color and form. This 47 inch tall by 40 wide wide original figurative artwork on canvas is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted, and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Gabriele Mierzwa was born in Schwientochlowitz, Upper Silesia, in 1958. She studied art in the studio of Prof. Henryk Dziecol from 1971 until 1978. She was just fourteen years old when she won the Golden Medal J. Nehru by UNICEF in an art contest in India. From 1973 until 1979 she studied at the Kattowitz Art School and received a Ph.D. in art. Since 1985 she has been living and working as an independent artist in the Black Forest, Germany. To change perceptions and create something new is what Mierzwa seeks to accomplish through her artwork. She assembles fragments of memory. The nudes arise from her daily observations and are stimulated by her fantasy. Gabriele Mierzwa has developed into a well-known artist within the international art scene. She has exhibited in Hamburg, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Offenburg, Lahr, Wuppertal, Schwetzingen, Bingen, Stuttgart, Köln, Germanisches National Museum Nürnberg, Olten, Basel, Zürich, London, Tokyo, Miami, Los Angeles and New York.

Imagine a New World - Impasto Thick Paint Original Figurative Art
By Cynthia Coulombe Bégin
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Coulombe-Bégin's dynamic acrylic on canvas works seek to produce a metamorphic interpretation of the artist's inner identity. Her paintings make ample use of contrasting colors to create exuberance and energy in her images. Inspired by street art, Coulombe Bégin 's paintings range from the abstract to the surreal and employ a variety of techniques and materials. Her contemporary artworks draw inspiration from body image, the universally recognizable symbol of hearts, and the experience of humankind. She brings a sensitivity to her work that stems from her exploration of identity and the joy and happiness of existence. Coulombe-Bégin draws us into her internal world: exploring the soul and matter, conscience, and the modern universe. This original figurative pop art painting measures 36 inches tall by 72 inches wide. The thickly textured paint is applied with tactile brushwork. It is wired and ready to hang. The sides of this artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Coulombe-Bégin’s work portrays from colorful hearts to specific parts of the human body, especially large close-up portrayals of the mouth and eyes, which are depicted with great contrasts of color and chiaroscuro. These symbols are constructed with specific gestures and drippings in which Coulombe-Bégin expresses an abstract universe full of movement, symbolism, and eroticism. Born in Miami, Coulombe-Bégin grew up in Quebec City where she earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2006 from Laval University. Starting very young, her parents focused a great deal on both the arts and athletics which helped her develop her own mode of expression. “I am particularly interested in the fragmented corporal shell, which I emphasize through spontaneous movement and vivid colors.” stated Coulombe-Bégin. “My experience with painting has led me to see things differently, to self-discovery and to great astonishment." Coulombe-Bégin's works have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including Canada, the United States, Europe, South America, and Australia. The Midnight Riders - Large Textural Abstract Energetic Blue Artwork on Canvas
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This large textural abstract energetic artwork on canvas by Togolese artist Olympio is a unique mixed media painting with a raw and direct aesthetic, providing an unfiltered manifestation of the artist's soul. Its expressive brushstrokes and vibrant color palette and the incorporation of an additional piece of canvas to the surface add an extra dimension of texture and interest to this already captivating piece. Olympio's raw and direct approach to mixed media and collage on canvas creates a tactile experience that provides a captivating insight into the artist's creative vision. Bright, energetic marks encircle rough textures that are perfectly balanced by the peaceful compositions beneath, creating a sense of harmony and balance in this exceptional artwork. This large 48-inch high by 60-inch wide mixed media painting is signed by Olympio on the back of the canvas. The many layers in his work emphasize the texture and visceral nature of his canvases. The painting is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping is available. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. For the abstract artist Olympio, art is a dance of textures and colors, woven from an eclectic medley of canvas and textiles. Each stroke on his canvas is a nod to the classical ideals of modern abstraction, a harmonious blend of purpose and spontaneity. The linens and canvases he selects have borne witness to various conditions and interactions, embracing the imprints of their past experiences. Olympio meticulously stretches, glues, and layers these diverse fabrics together, infusing them with additional layers of acrylic paint, a fusion of careful craft and serendipitous revelation. In Olympio's art, deliberate strokes mingle with accidental splashes, forming a mesmerizing canvas that speaks to the ethos of modernism's evolution. It's a reminder that the legends of yesteryears now manifest as a distinct style, a testament to their enduring influence. His mastery over the medium amplifies, imbuing each piece with a romantic essence carefully counterbalanced by his practiced modesty. The strokes, swirling and turbulent, are immersed in a rich, opulent application of paint, akin to an expansive honeysuckle-pink landscape or a brooding soot-gray abyss. Yet within this whirlwind of impressions, Olympio maintains a sense of purpose, an elusive process that surrenders control to the animated paint and sculptural fabrics. Olympio possesses a rare duality, orchestrating the delicate balance between sensuality and subtlety within his creations. Navigating these opposing forces, he transcends distractions and attains the perfect pitch, crafting a visual symphony that resonates deeply. Olympio was born into a large family of eight children in Lomé, Togo, West Africa. He began his creating art by using building scraps to make sculptures. By the time he was in high school, he started to experiment with mixed-media and collage. He later transitioned to acrylic and oil on canvas. In 2001, Olympio left his home in Africa to live in Paris. Olympio moved to the United States in 2003 and has continued to paint. His work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, where in 2018 he was ranked one of the Top 10 Artists by Red Dot Miami. He was also recently interviewed for France 2, TV5Monde, and the BBC. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally.
