In diesem Katalog soll es auch ein paar Entdeckungen geben, denn sie sind der Antrieb für alle Kunstaficionados und somit auch für mich als Galerist. Diese wunderbar reduzierte Arbeit auf Glas aus den 30er Jahren ist dafür ein wunderbares Beispiel und wartet jetzt auf den nächsten Entdecker. Für einen Glaskünstler wie Robert Klein mag die Technik das natürlichste der Welt sein, tatsächlich ist eine Ätzung auf Glas eine kaum bekannte Technik, die hier aber gekonnt und äußert passend eingesetzt wird. Die Farbpalette beschränkt sich auf ein Braun, das durch die Ätzung unterschiedliche hellere Töne bekommt. Die Technik erscheint ähnlich wie beim Holzschnitt, das Glas als Medium wirkt aber moderner und ermöglicht die Inszenierung mit Licht im Hintergrund. Ein spezielles Licht, nämlich ein zerstörerisches Feuer, ist auch das Motiv dieser stark reduzierten Arbeit. Man erkennt im Hintergrund den brennenden Stall, während im Vordergrund der Bauer und Bäuerin damit beschäftigt sind Kinder und Kühe zu retten. Auffällig ist die dynamische und ausgeklügelte Komposition der Arbeit, die den Betrachter mit Diagonalen zum Bildmittelpunkt und zum Feuer ziehen. Die Gesichter des Bauernpaars sind reduziert, wirken dadurch aber umso stärker. Dem Künstler gelingt sowohl die Kraft und das Lodern des Feuers darzustellen, als auch den Rauch extra herauszuätzen. In Summe ein äußert dynamischen und modernes Werk.

Prior to working with glass as a medium she was the production manager for Andy Warhol Factory (Production Manager, Film & Video), and quickly emerged as a conceptual artist of global recognition. Her work has been shown in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Paul Kasmin Gallery, Holly Solomon Gallery, and other museums and galleries around the world. In 2001, Suzan founded sei studio in SoHo with her husband, Brenden FitzGerald. They have collaborated with some of the industry’s most innovative architects and interior designers to produce custom chandeliers and art features for hundreds of landmark spaces, including the W Hotel Seoul, Mandarin Oriental New York, and Intercontinental Hong Kong.
