Within my paintings and sculptures, I am symbolically depicted as unfinished structural forms that have an unknown, yet important potential purpose. Despite their ambitions to be completed, these structures will never be more beautiful than when in process of becoming. My work reflects how I view my present self, and the future self I hope to become. In many ways, making art is my method for the reconciliation of the complexity of of my self identity and my ambition to excel in all avenues of my life. In the act of making, I use my experiences from the complex nature of being as raw material that builds and inspires the metaphorical narrative aspects of my work." Heather Lamanno is an interdisciplinary artist who explores personal and cultural narratives within imaginary psychological spaces. Within her practice, she creates paintings and installations that depict construction sites that exist in an abstract and temporal space, in-between the gap of proposal and completion. Lamanno received her BFA in Painting at the Kansas City Art Institute, and her MFA from the Minneapolis College of art and Design. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the country, and has participated is many residencies and fellowships, including the Second Shift Studio Residency Program in East St.Paul. Lamanno currently resides in North Minneapolis with husband and fellow artist Daniel Lough, and their family.

  • 'Blackburian Warbler' - bird - black and white - Audubon
    Located in Atlanta, GA
"Blackburian Warbler" is a black and white artwork made from asphalt on cement and plaster mounted on wood panel. Atlanta-based artist, Tim Hunter’s work stems from his love of nature and concern for the environment. In 2003 he began working primarily with images of birds as an expression of his spiritual connection with nature. After reading an article about the declining bird populations in Georgia, he turned his focus to environmental issues. An avid bird watcher, Tim also experienced the heavily wooded area he grew up in, slowly reduced to shopping malls and subdivisions. He uses asphalt and cement to create his works which refer to the loss of habitat due to human expansion, which is one of the main causes of declining bird populations. His silhouettes are taken from Audubon’s series “Birds of America” which references a period in the past when the bird populations in America were more abundant. Tim received a BFA in printmaking from California College of Arts, Oakland, CA and an MFA in painting from Georgia State...
