Hunter & Gatti
Sled. Mixed media fashion portrait on a Black and white photography

2022

About the Item

The “visible” spectrum, is probably the most well-known of human sensory limitations, as the human #eye is only capable of perceiving light at wavelengths between 390 and 750 nanometers. Of course, calling it the “visible” spectrum is a bit of a misnomer, as plenty of animals are capable of perceiving light with frequencies outside this relatively narrow band of electromagnetic radiation. Using infrared black and white photography, the images shift, as you just saw, the greens become almost white and the blues a dramatic dark. The colors are not distorted, a different part of the spectrum is simply captured, it is another reality, it totally differs from the reality we know, that is why cameras and films have been always prepared to eliminate ultraviolet and infrared light, so that their results are the one that human eye sees, and that´s what they change. The artists explore even further the infinite possibilities of transformation by turning something as temporary as a fashion editorial, into something completely different and original; a unique piece of art. From the Series Infinite Acrylic and scratch on fine art metallic paper with a pearlescent coating
