Jean Louis MENDRISSE Sur Un Coin De Lune
About the Item
Jean-Louis Mendrisse is a self-taught painter born in 1955 in Clermont-Ferrand.
Art, family affairs
Jean-Louis Mendrisse studied the deal with his famous sculptor father, Jean Mosnier, and presented his work in the studio in Montmartre in 1977 before entering the artist in 1980. His pen name, Mendrisse, "coming so far" is still mysterious according to the artist's words. His work expresses emotions, celebrates life and humanity, and seeks the past and its meaning.
Melancholy art
Mendris's work is determined to be melancholy. Her gentle, feminine character appears on the icon of meditation on human emotions, and looks beautiful and melancholy. Mendris also expressed short-lived content through her paintings and raised topics such as temptation, quarrel, shame or suspicion, family or dance. Artists regard art as the same as the promotion of religion. His paintings are covered with glaze, reminiscent of the history of religious art.
Successful artist
Since 1980, Mendris has exhibited his work several times during the collective and individual exhibitions in France, as well as in the United States, the Netherlands and Belgium.

- Melanated QueenLocated in Ibadan, Oyo"Melanated Queen" is more than just a painting; it's a tribute to the beauty that resides within melanin-rich individuals and an homage to the resilience of African queens throughout history. Odetomi expertly captures the essence of this woman, her features exuding confidence and pride. The warm, earthy tones used to depict her skin convey a sense of strength and natural beauty, while the rose flower ribbon symbolizes femininity and grace. The woman's posture in the painting is a testament to the empowerment of women, especially women of color. Her regal posture and unyielding gaze project an aura of self-assuredness, breaking free from the limiting stereotypes that have plagued the representation of African women in art for centuries. Odetomi's brushstrokes artfully depict the subtle yet powerful transformation of vulnerability into strength, revealing the queen-like qualities present within every woman. Central to the artwork is the rose flower ribbon adorning the woman's hair. The rose has long been associated with love, beauty, and passion, and its presence here infuses the painting with a sense of romance and elegance. Moreover, the rose flower ribbon serves as a symbol of the interconnectedness between nature and the woman's identity. It highlights the harmony she shares with the world around her, as well as her ability to nurture and cultivate beauty in her surroundings. Abayomi Odetomi...Category
