About the Item

Artist Comments
The deep blue waters of Lily Lake peek through the trees high in the Sierra Nevada mountains. A winding path weaves between colorful rocks and boulders, guiding the way to the tranquil alpine lake. Vibrant hues bring the peaceful scene to life.

About the Artist
Artist Jinny Tomozy reveals the most tender aspects of nature through her work. "I am captivated by light touching a surface, the nuances of a shadow, interplays of color, and of other complex facets of our visual world," shares Jinny. After twenty-two years as a teacher of foundations in art education and placing her creative aspirations on hold, she now pursues art full-time and spends more of her days painting and creating. Jinny captures tangible feelings of space and time in her studio at Reno Art Works. In this non-profit gallery, a community of eleven artists works in an emerging art district in Reno, Nevada. Her work has been awarded "Best of Show" two years in a row for their local art exhibitions. When she's not painting, she spends her time with her husband and daughter channeling alternative creative outlets through baking, crafting, and sewing. They satisfy their adventurous side through outdoor hiking trails, paddle boarding, and exploring canyons and ditches in the high desert.

"Path To The Lake" Oil on Canvas Landscape 20" X 16" by Hal Frater
By Hal Frater
Located in Carmel, CA
Hal Frater passed away on February 3, 2008, just a month from celebrating his 99th birthday. Hal Frater had a long and prolific career. He became a sought after commercial artist for over fifty years and was an early member of the well-know Society of Illustrators in New York City. All the while he would return to his studio and paint for himself rather than his clients. Yet he always retained his illustration roots in wanting to tell a story on canvas with his keen eye of observation on the human condition. Often he would join fellow artists in informal sessions and paint from a model - no formal art school training but a mutually beneficial learning experience. His contemporaries that influenced him were Jack Levine, Raphael Soyer, John Sloan, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and Phillip Reisman...
