Condition: No Known Issues Comments/Other: TWO Original signed Collages by listed artist John V. Moraitis. Drawing/Collage measures 18x24 on paper. Moraitis' collages consist of many different mediums and objects. Anything from pen, marker ink, water paint, drawings, image cut outs and actual photos. Also frequently used are stamps, post cards, paint (usually acrylic), tickets, and many other media/items! Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but the images were taken decades ago. We can do current photos with better technology should you wish more photos! These are Original and Authentic Collages signed by the artist. They also come with a holographic stamp/label indicating originality - and a document stating that they came from Moraitis' estate. John V. Moraitis was an amazing artist, actively heading shows throughout the 1950's-70's and continued his Greek American heritage artwork until his death in 1994. Awarded First Prize by the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) at the 1966 Long Island Arts Festival. Among his many shows his work has appeared in some of the following: 1954 Ohio State Fair/Zimmerman Gallery in Columbus 1955 Columbus Fine Arts Museum 1956 Walter Reed Army Hospital 1959 Sisti Gallery In Buffalo, NY 1964 Stonybrook Museum in Long Island 1965 Parrish Museum in Long Island His collections and works have been owned by as well as commissioned by some of the following: Robert Kennedy estate; Andreas Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece; Margaret Papandreou; Christopher's in Pittsburgh, PA These were chosen out of a large body of work. They are similar in some respects, and the themes center around a male and female Greek figure. Would be great as a pair as they would balance each other extremely well. These will be shipped flat and sandwiched between carboard as well as sealed in plastic to ensure their safe arrival and to keep them dry should rain be encountered during their travels.
