About the Item

Jongwang Lee's paintings challenge a dormant potential he believes lives within all humans. Inspired by Buddhist philosophies of space, Korean ideas of communication with the soul, and Eastern philosophies, Lee presents the concept of the "spacewomb"—an ideal world where the material and technological elements of the modern, physical world are escaped in a return to the spiritual haven of a womb. His paintings use a mixture of resin, oil paints, and pigments to create liquid forms: fluids, which for him represent humans, interacting in neural space. Lee's work combines contemporary qualities, like the bold colors and compositions of Pop art, with his personal lineage, through Eastern techniques such as Korean sumi brush painting. After experimenting with resin for over 20 years, Lee's latest work combines this material with oil paint and rice paper in a process that produces three-dimensional, sculptural layers.

My Heart Goes Red out to You

The vibrant red marks in this painting burst forth with passion and intensity, as if the heart is beating within the canvas. The oblique composition and veining traces of breathing add a sense of movement and flow, as if the very essence of love is alive and pulsating within the canvas. The use of primary colors and expansive sense of dark and bright colors create a powerful visual impact that is not possible to be ignored. This art work truly captures the beauty and competency of love and is surely to leave a lasting impression on anyone who sees it. From 2022 to 2023, Cymn extended a soul karma in her Washington saloon that spearheads to create a masterful suited style of American ethos. The ethos showcases an accomplishment in self-realization of aesthetic views of both Eastern and Western cultures. Wong attempts to vitalize certain built-in imageries and present the visual world via a dynamic interaction for human passion with the environment and the universe. In retrospect about the reciprocity between poetry and art, Cymn’s artistic attainments are expanding into a vivid oasis that she has been stimulated in an international platform. Three turning points of creativity for Cymn Wong...
