About the Item

The Birth of Venus is an early renaissance oil on canvas painting by the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli, executed during the mid-1480s. It depicts the goddess Venus arriving at the shore after her birth, when she had emerged from the sea fully grown (called Venus Anadyomene and often expressed in art). The painting is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. As a depiction of a subject from classical mythology on a vast scale, The Birth of Venus was virtually unprecedented in Western art since classical antiquity, as was the size and prominence of a nude female figure in the Birth. It was thought that it was commissioned by the same member of the Medici family. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kaid Cota is a Canadian artist residing in Toronto, Ontario. Her interest in and love for art started at an early age. Having both parents in the art field (world-renowned artists Blend Cota and Redina Tili), she was inspired by their creativity and their life. Kaid was closely involved with their art shows and the art exhibit experience from her early childhood. In 2019 she pursued her studies of Fine Art, graduating in Visual and Creative Arts at Sheridan College in Ontario. Kaid's artworks combine drawings, water, acrylic and oil paintings. Kaid is amazed at old masters and their incredible artistic skills. She also has a passion for artistic photography as a creative tool to capture our surroundings in her vision. Kaid is an emerging artist following her passion for leaving a positive mark in the art world. As a young artist, Kaid explores various techniques and styles to narrow her journey to create a difference in the world and bring light to new means. Since time has left its mark on these ancient artworks with cracks and faded colours, Kaid is restoring a collection of this timeless art to its original look and feel with clean paint strokes and bright, fresh colours.
