About the Item

At first glance, this piece seems like a classic Chinese ink painting, but a closer look reveals a quiet surprise: the full, ripened pomegranates are stitched entirely by hand. Every gradation of ink from deep black to soft gray, from dry strokes to wet washes, is recreated through layers of fine silk threads. Even the bold red seals are embroidered. The simple composition of branching twigs is painted with natural, organic rhythm, while the embroidered fruit creates a graceful counterpoint, bringing the scene to life with poetic elegance. Created by Taiwan’s Liang Yi Culture, the work embodies their innovative approach of blending painting and embroidery. Liang Yi Culture carries forward the thousand-year heritage of Xiang Embroidery, one of China’s four great embroidery traditions, celebrated for its rich color layers, soft luster, and exquisite realism. By uniting classical ink painting with subtle, three-dimensional embroidery, Liang Yi Culture transforms traditional craft into a contemporary art form. Pomegranate stands as a refined example of this dialogue between ink and thread, where simplicity holds profound craftsmanship and quiet artistic power.
