About the Item

This floral relief sculpture by Maggie Ramirez-Burns uses vintage and handmade paper to create a cascade of un-natural beauty. It's expertly framed in an acrylic box to protect the delicate structure. Maggie Ramirez Burns creates work that reawakens the senses and honors the quiet persistence of beauty. A self-taught artist, her practice is rooted in personal history—shaped by her upbringing along the coasts of Southern California and Baja, Mexico, and deeply informed by the early loss of her mother. Her art reflects a search for optimism amid grief, a meditation on memory, and a reverence for the natural world. Maggie often reuses archived works or creates entirely by hand, allowing her process to mirror themes of renewal and transformation. Guided by the organic forms of botanicals and marine vegetation, she uses flowing compositions and intuitive color to evoke a sense of movement and healing. A first-generation American and longtime Pacific Northwest resident, Maggie has been making art since 2014 while also serving as the Creative Director of her Seattle-based shoe company, re-souL.
