About the Item

Present black crow and frog. Small child hovers suspended above a black bird taking flight. In balanced on one side another frog--- as brass hook. On the other side a ritual object suggesting strategy games of duality united by a ring and starfish token. Our stories are reluctant to change and yet may be/are often changed by the smallest thing. This mixed media series plays with depiction of images created by small found objects. These create connections, like an archeological dig that eschews familiar narratives, nudging us to create new stories. Unlike the archaeologist that brings their historical and cultural bias to the site to eventually find their assumptions wrong, we are invited to allow these artifacts to bring new narrative without pat beginnings and endings. Each tray introduces small found objects that together create a schema through proximity suggesting other possible realities. Not linear, nor causal they invite an application of poetry to reframe the imagery.
