About the Item
Monica DeSalvo’s “A Golden Place” is a 16 x 12 inch abstract minimalist collage on paper with a golden wheat field, a bold graphic shape containing bright blue and green impressions of frayed burlap printed on a vintage xerox, an inverted black figure with pistachios, and a line illustration of a roof against a cream sky. A Gelli plate was used to print onto the xerox which reveals black text and numbers and is from DeSalvo’s late father’s engineering profession. The 10.75 x 7.875 inch image is mounted on archival paper in a natural wood 16 x 12 x 1.75 inch frame with glass. The title and signature are written below the image.
Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts. Her work has been featured in juried and invitational exhibitions and publications such as Suboart, Juniper Rag, and Artscope magazines. In 2024, she participated in her first artist residency at the Kolaj Institute in Sanquhar, Scotland. Her 2023 solo show, A Bus Tour in the Woods: Visual Duets with Her Father, was held at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, and she was interviewed for the Dementia Spring Foundation’s Artist Spotlight. Monica lives and works in Arlington, MA. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston.
