Monica DeSalvo
"Resting on Water", contemporary, ships, river, blue, tan, yellow, digital photo

2021

About the Item

Monica DeSalvo’s “Resting on Water” is a series of ten 5 x 5 inch croppings of a digital photo montage, each mounted on wood panel. Dark blue, maroon, tan, and white imagery of enlarged container ships and aerial views of the Savannah River are accented with bright yellow brush strokes and gold paint. Some have been collaged onto with colorful dots. The original image was configured in three strips resulting in some of the croppings containing stark white divisions. The work has been created in such a way that the collector has multiple options for orientation, arrangement, and display including sitting on a shelf. The 0.875 inch panels are a light natural wood, and each piece is signed on the back with the title. Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer. She received her BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Her work has been shown in many shows both juried and invitational and is a part of collections across the US and Europe. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston.
