About the Item
Monica DeSalvo’s “Throwing Stones” is a diptych of two 4.25 x 6 inch collages on abstract acrylic monotypes. Green lettuce, tan and ivory eggs, and blurred fields of red, maroon, and magenta are paired with whimsical white markings that dance across the rhythmic composition, evoking the Grateful Dead lyrics, “the kids, they dance and shake their bones” from their song, “Throwing Stones.” The monotypes were created with a Gelli plate. The work is presented in a 20 x 16 inch white double-window acid free mat mounted on archival foam core. The artist's signature is on the back.
Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Her work has been featured in juried and invitational exhibitions, as well as in several periodicals, and is part of collections in the United States and Europe. DeSalvo is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston.
