About the Item
Monica DeSalvo’s “Wind Systems” is a 16 x 12 inch abstract diptych with asymmetrical collages on chipboard. Bright yellow, blue, green, purple, and gray organic acrylic monotype remnants with varying textures contrast with grids from vintage ledger papers—one beige with black type—and a corner from an engineering textbook. These materials once belonged to DeSalvo’s late father, and the image was inspired by his aeronautical engineering profession and his love for structure and whimsy. The 11 x 8.5 inch image is mounted on archival paper with faint horizontal rules in a natural wood 16 x 12 inch x 1.75 inch frame with glass. The title and signature are written below the image.
Monica DeSalvo is a Boston-based mixed-media artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Design from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Her work has been featured in juried and invitational exhibitions, as well as in several periodicals, and is part of collections in the United States and Europe.
