About the Item

Patty deGrandpre’s “Landlocked (Palm Trees)” is an 11 x 16.5 inch unique abstract mixed media print represented on Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper utilizing both printmaking and creative photography. The artist’s recent relocation from coastal Massachusetts to the high desert of New Mexico has yielded her new series “Landlocked” where the artist merges desert images with ocean and coastline pictorials. This contemporary landscape embrace both the desert terrain and a Hawaiian coastline as images are cropped and deconstructed then inkjet printed on and within layers of block printing ink and gouache. Patty deGrandpre creates a lattice work of imagery, form, and colors that seamlessly incorporate common imagery with the whimsical and abstract. DeGrandpre earned her BFA in Visual Design is 1987. Her esthetic and creative approach have a graphic sensibility that is very evident in her art work. This print is signed under the right hand corner of the image and will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice. DeGrandpre received her BFA in Visual Design from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1987. She has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. The Palms #6 (Abstract painting)
By Robert Baribeau
Located in London, GB
The Palms #6 (Abstract painting) Charcoal on paper - Unframed. Baribeau constructs his paintings layer upon layer, building color, form and texture into viscous, impasto compositions, on supports that are themselves often thick, and even sculptural. He scratches and scrawls across his surfaces, infusing visceral emotion and energy into the work. His imagery is so layered and dimensional that even his works on paper convey a sense of texture and depth. Critics have connected Baribeau to a range of aesthetic positions, including everything from Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art to the 19th century Hudson River School, and compared him variously to the likes of Robert Rauschenberg, Joan Mitchell, Cy Twombly, and Willem de Kooning. In truth, Baribeau employs a distinctive aesthetic voice that is personal and instantly recognizable, despite its multiplicity. His visual world is one where primordial, organic nature collides with the geometric, manufactured world, and where certain signature visual cues, such as black and white stripes, checkerboards, dots, and flashes of neon color appear and disappear. His work is included in several institutional collections, including those of the Neuberger Museum, Purchase, NY; Morgan Stanley...
