About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Landlocked (Recreation)” is a 16.25 x 10.875 inch unique mixed media abstracted landscape print represented on Awagami Bamboo Japanese paper utilizing both printmaking and creative photography. The artist’s recent relocation from coastal Massachusetts to the high desert of New Mexico has yielded a new series called “Landlocked” where the artist creates mixed media prints that merge images of the southwest desert with images of oceans and coastal living. In “Landlocked (Recreation)” depictions of a rugged golf course in New Mexico, the water’s edge of a new England beach, and a classic beach chair are cropped and deconstructed then inkjet printed on and within multiple layers of block printing ink resulting in rich luminous jeweled tones of purple, blue, and green as well as contrasting black. A field of dots, thoughtful placed orbs, and a small bar of lime green give this sophisticated composition a graphic sensibility. DeGrandpre creates a lattice work of imagery, form, and colors that seamlessly incorporate common imagery with the whimsical and abstract. She earned her BFA in Visual Design is 1987. The print is signed under the right hand corner of the image and and is mounted on 0.375 inch white foam core with a 1 inch border. Ready for the frame of your choice, this dynamic piece will ship flat in a protective sleeve and will be a welcomed addition to any contemporary collection.
DeGrandpre has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
