Raymond Graber
One Light - infinite ambient glow color immersion transitional light sculpture

2022

About the Item

Raymond Graber‘s kinetic light sculpture One Light (2022) incorporates lightwaves as an artistic medium, creating an immersive visual experience with a mesmerizing play of ambient glow in a gradually evolving color spectrum inspired by the firmament’s chromatic color palette of twilight. Over the course of time the wall mounted sculpture progressively transitions between atmospheric color hues, slowly intensifying and retreating to produce an infinite spectrum of light experiences, with multiple light arrays creating continuously changing infinite graduations of light intensity and subtle blending of color values. A single cycle of gradual color changes lasts approximately 66 minutes, tentatively transitioning between a myriad of color temperatures barely detectable to the human eye. The seamless modulations of lightwaves allow the viewer to experience each mesmerizing color moment in time without perceiving the subtle changes in color spectrum, offering an ethereal experience of light immersion reminiscent of works by early Light and Space pioneers Robert Irwin and James Turrell. Even in standby modus the wall sculpture’s minimal complexities enhance a room with clean lines, evolving shadow play and bold scale, yet with a floating in-situ appearance to further deceive the sculpture's depth and scale. The minimalist design provides the ideal canvas for the ever-changing light experience, influenced by the change of ambient light from morning to night, offering a wide range of viewing experiences throughout the day, yet never intruding on the interior's ambient light. Limited edition (20 + 2AP) light sculpture created at artist studio in San Francisco signed + numbered verso bespoke customization on request ------------------------------ About the artist Raymond Graber’s light sculptures are informed by decades of traveling as a professional photographer, capturing the infinite range of atmospheric colorspaces and seasonal twilight skies in locations all over the world. Known as a visual thinker and master of lighting, Graber now refines his photographic eye to create seamless, conceptual light visuals —timeless minimalist objects marked by an ethereal prowess that enhances an ambience yet never overpowers the emotion of experience.  Raymond Graber was born in Ohio in 1967. He currently lives in San Francisco and continues to travel the world in search of light wave inspiration.

    Located in San Francisco, CA

About the artist: Massimo Vitali was born in Como, Italy, in 1944. He studied photography at the London College of Printing, in the 1970s initially working as a photojournalist, but at the beginning of the 80s a growing mistrust in the belief that photography had an absolute capacity to reproduce the subtleties of reality led to a change in his career path. Vitali worked in cinematography for film and television before beginning a fine art practice in 1995. Over the next two decades, he would gain recognition for his highly detailed, epic-scale panoramas — sociopolitical observations of the natural habitat of humankind at leisure. Vitali’s iconic series of beach panoramas, captured from a distance with an elevated large-format camera platform, began in the light of drastic political changes in Italy. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance and Old Flemish masters, in which the central space is fully exploited and the urban or natural landscape becomes the background, Vitali’s photographs grasp the viewer by capturing highly detailed observances of the recreational habitats of modern civilization. Vitali’s work has been collected in six monographs: Beach and Disco, Natural Habitats, Landscapes With Figures, Swimming Pools, Short Stories and Entering A New World. Additionally, his work is represented in the world’s major museums, including the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, the Fond National Art Contemporaine in Paris, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris, the Fondation Cartier in Paris and the Museo Luigi Pecci in Prato. Massimo Vitali lives and works in Lucca (Italy) and in Berlin (Germany). __________________________ SOLO EXHIBITIONS 2021 'PienoVuoto' Forte di Belvedere, Florence 2020 'Human Constellations' Museo Ettore Fico, Turin 2019 Massimo Vitali: Short Stories' Mazzoleni, London 2018 'Coastal Colonies' Spiral, Tokyo 2017 ‘Disturbed Coastal Systems’ Benrubi Gallery (New York, USA) 2016 ‘Landscapes with Figures’ Guido & Schoen Arte Contemponania (Genoa, Italy) 2016 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Crown Gallery (Knokke-Zoute, Belgium) 2016 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Ronchini Gallery (London, UK) 2015 ‘New Prints’ Hilger Next (Vienna, Austria) 2014 ‘Massimo Vitali’ Studio La Citta (Verona, Italy) 2014 ‘Into The White’ Erich Lindenberg Art Foundation (Porza, Switzerland) 2014 ‘Sempre più pallide. • Blanco Blue
    By Billy Criswell
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Utilizing geometric abstraction, Billy Criswell creates asymmetrical compositions that explore light, color, perspective and space. His modern sculptures evoke a sense of imploding/exploding and motion/counter-motion, challenging viewer perception. Reminiscent of the abstracted forms of Cubism, combined with Louise Nevelson’s monumental wooden assemblages, the intimate scale of Criswell’s abstract one-of-a-kind sculptures reflects a profound response to 20th century modernism. Visual elements of celestial bodies, aerodynamics, architecture and nature challenge viewers to develop their own perceptions of the work. This 22 inch high by 24 inch wide blue wooden sculpture is ready to be displayed. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Based in Southern California, Criswell’s works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States, including the Nahcotta Gallery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and the Pierce-Dunham Gallery in Houston, Texas. In addition, his work is part of many public and corporate collections, including the Chicago Arts Council in Chicago; Pfizer Corporate Headquarters in New York, NY; the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo, Japan; and Disney Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Criswell is also a recipient of the 2011 United States Artists Foundation Project Grant, as well as a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grantee in 2010.
