About the Item
Artist Comments
Pieces of maps from an old atlas weave into the composition, symbolizing the search for clarity and purpose. The result is a fragmented cityscape filled with doubt, movement, and the quiet promise of a new beginning. Artist Tim Engelhardt wrestled with this painting through multiple revisions, laying down color, painting over it, and repeating the process several times.
About the Artist
Artist Tim Engelhardt creates abstract compositions that explore the complexities of the human psyche. He uses color and structure to explore his feelings while grounding each piece in the reality of who he is in the moment of creation. “Much of my work starts from a yearning to understand existence and relationship,†says Tim. Though he has never had formal mentorship, Tim has built his path through persistence, the support of his wife, and a strong artistic community. Based in Pittsburgh, Tim paints at a 260-square-foot studio in a converted Westinghouse factory. When he’s not making art or working full-time at a bank, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, tending his yard, and watching musical theater.

Artist Diana Elena Chelaru depicts three expressionist female figures in a wavy dance. Their flowing dresses burst into a joyous explosion of blue flowers. She achieves a unique consistency through dripped and dried enamel paint layered with acrylics. Diana patterns fine pointillism details for more playful elements.
About the Artist
Artist Diana Chelaru paints colorful expressionist interpretations of human emotion. “Art is a means of communication, it is how I express my thoughts, hopes, regrets, and joys,†says Diana. She experiments with working on large-scale paintings using the visual language of form, lines, and color to create compositions that exist only in her imagination. Growing up in Romania, she draws inspiration from Byzantine mosaics as well as Gustav Klimt’s subject matter and use of decorative patterns. She received her BFA in Painting from George Enescu Art University and finished her MA in Art History from Queens College. Diana simply goes with the flow rather than dwelling on the formulaic process. It all depends on how and what she feels at the moment. She indulges in music while she creates her work.

Artist Patrick O'Boyle produces an abstract aerial view of a landscape. "I use aerial photos taken from various places I have traveled," says Patrick. He creates an organic shape filled with colors, lines, and patterns. The structures fill the canvas forming a new and larger image, open to the interpretation of the viewer.
About the Artist
Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete. Using extra-long handles on his brushes, Patrick paints at a distance from the canvas so he can see the works evolve as a whole from the one color he starts with to the vibrant array at the end.
