About the Item
My work is rooted in expressive mark-making and guided by intuition, play, and emotion. During a recent workshop, Concept to Exhibition, I was challenged to reflect on the words I want my art to evoke — Mood, Release, Depth, Color, and Texture became the foundation for a new direction in my practice.
This led to the creation of Bubble Gum Man, a piece born from an experimental process using my non-dominant hand to sketch the initial figure. The work evolved organically over several days as I layered pastels, ink, paint, and specialty papers on canvas. The act of mark-making — especially at the beginning — provides a sense of freedom and release, setting the tone for the entire composition.
Through additive and subtractive techniques, acrylic glazing, and collage, I developed a rich, textured surface that balances spontaneity with intention. The use of grid-like specialty paper helps frame the central figure while pushing and pulling elements of the background, creating a layered visual dialogue.
My work is both meditative and playful — a reflection of process-driven discovery and the emotional resonance of materials.
