About the Item
Artist Comments
A stone structure rises from a dreamy landscape. The blue and gold tones create a surreal and sacred atmosphere. Artist Yamilet Sempe drew inspiration from the appearance of Yemaya, a marine deity and undisputed queen of the waters. She personifies the vital force of the ocean in many cultures and mythologies, reflecting the ancestral importance of water for humanity. Its domain encompasses legends and beliefs throughout history.
About the Artist
Artist Yamilet Sempe paints boldly graphic abstracts, visibly influenced by modernist aesthetics. A keen believer in the power of signs, she incorporates symbols of mysticism and spirituality in her work. Her compositions feature dramatic palettes—intentionally using orange to represent enthusiasm and positivity. "I am only an instrument of the creator," says Yamilet. Spending her formative years in Cuba and France, she immersed herself in the presence and influence of renowned artists of culture. After years of working as a veterinary nurse, it was not until her mid-forties she chose to dedicate her time to painting, her true passion. She migrated to Florida and devoted herself to her practice, working at her home studio neighboring the coast. Yamilet splits her time between the United States and Paris, allowing her shared vision of diverse cultures. Her work has been featured in esteemed exhibitions in Europe and the USA.

Yamilet Sempe
Yamilet Sempé is a French-American artist who works in a boldly graphic abstract style visibly influenced by modernist aesthetics. She describes her color palette as being a reflection of her positive energy. Sempé loves being in nature, finding inspiration in the sea near her Florida home. The subtropical weather and the brightness of the sun guide her choice to use primarily warm colors. She is also influenced by painter Hilma af Klint and the architecture of Paris.
