BEARBRICK - Keith Haring "Special" 400% & 100% Date of creation: 2023 Medium: Vinyl figure Edition: Open Size: 28 x 10 x 10 cm Condition: In mint conditions, inside its original package Observations: Vinyl figure published in 2023 by Medicom Toys. Sent inside its original box. Introducing the Bearbrick 400%, with its 100% Jean-Michel Basquiat version, a special edition that pays tribute to his artistic spirit. This figurine merges several of his works, while reusing elements from previous Bearbrick models. The head features Bearbrick JM Basquiat v6 motifs on the front and v5 on the back. The torso features designs from Bearbrick JM Basquiat v1 on the front and v4 on the back. The waist features a design from Bearbrick JM Basquiat v3. The arms feature the Bearbrick JM Basquiat v8 design on the outside, while the inside is based on model v2. The hands are inspired by model 5 at the front and model v1 at the rear. Finally, the legs combine the styling of the Bearbrick JM Basquiat v9 on the front of the right leg and the back of the left leg, the v7 on the front of the left leg, and the v3 on the back of the right leg. These Bearbrick series feature an all over water transfer print, resulting in a different pattern sequence. This means that no two figures are identical so each unit is unique. The print pattern shown on the pictures provided on our site may be different from the item purchased. ABOUT BEARBRICK EDITIONS Bearbrick (or Be@rbrick) figures stand out for two main features: their simple and attractive image and their endless variety of designs. Bearbrick was published for the first time on May 27, 2001 during the Tokyo World Character Convention. It was given away as a present for its visitors. Since then, the Bearbrick has become a canvas on which designers and artists have shaped their designs. Owned by the Japanese company Medicom, the Bearbrick shows an articulated bear similar to a piece of Lego. Hence its name, the conjunction of words "bear" and "brick". The most traditional Bearbricks are made of vinyl, although they can be found in any material, wood, metal or porcelain among others. Bearbrick figures can be found in multiple series. On one hand, they are sold in what has already become popular as “Blind Boxes”, boxes that contain a certain model that belongs to a series, which is made up of a specific number of designs. What makes some figures more special than others is the probability of finding a specific design. Some Bearbricks that are included in these “blind boxes” are very limited, so these have become highly valued collectibles. On the other hand, the most exclusive side of the Bearbricks shines thanks to the collaborations between Medicom and great designers or artists. Karl Lagerfeld, Salvatore Ferragamo, Kenzo or Roberto Cavalli, are some of the high couture designers who have dressed Bearbrick. Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jackson Pollock, Keith Haring, Kaws or Pushead are some of the artists who give the artistic version to these figures.
