About the Item

This is a Greeting Letter Signed by the Alberto Gerardi to the Countess Pecci-Blunt. Rome, February 29th, 1940, XVIII. One page, single-sinded. In Italian. Excellent condition, including original envelope. Perfectly readable, thanks to an elegant calligraphy. The Italian artist, Alberto Gerardi, writes to the Countess, as well as mentor and patron of the arts for an affectionate greeting and for an embarrassing request: "mi faccia avere quello che vule per le due cose acquistate". "let me have what you want for the two things purchased". After the commission and sale of his two artworks, the artist is in precarious economic conditions and is forced to knock on money! Alberto Gerardi (Rome, 1889-1965) Multihedral artist, painter, sculptor, ceramist, chiseller, Alberto Gerardi is remembered still today for the precious jewels he beaten and chiseled. Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971). The Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!
