This is a Letter of Thanks Signed by the Italian artist Alberto Gerardi to the Countess Pecci-Blunt. Rome, April 6th. Around 1938. One page, single-sinded. In Italian. Excellent condition. Perfectly readable, thanks to an elegant calligraphy. Touching Autograph letter addressed to the Countess and patron of arts, in which the Italian artist thanks the great mentor for his partecipation to the exhibition Anthology of Contemporary drawings (1938) organized by the New York branch of the Cometa Gallery. From Libero de Libero, the Italian artist knows the growing success of his drawings and the sold of his artworks. Alberto Gerardi (Rome, 1889-1965) Multihedral artist, painter, sculptor, ceramist, chiseller, Alberto Gerardi is remembered still today for the precious jewels he beaten and chiseled. Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971). The Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi! La Cometa Gallery was founded in 1935 by the Italian poet Libero de Libero and the Countess Pecci-Blunt. An internationl world in Rome, in which artists and intellectuals like Afro, Mirko, Cagli Mafai, Guttuso and Capogrossi, Severini, Martini, Janni, Melli, Ziveri, Pirandello, Savinio graviteted. This gallery remained active until the summer of 1938 (a branch opened in New York from 1937), and was closed because of the racial laws of the fascist regime.
