About the Item

Mid-Century enameled steel, glass sculpture that is visually balanced from 360 degrees. All the positive and negative spaces work in total harmony which is a testament to Samuel Cashwan artistic talents. Cashwan was born in Ukraine then moved to Paris from 1923 to 1926 where he attended the École des Beaux-Arts under the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. Cashwan also served as the head of the sculpture department of the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts until 1942. Cashwan was also employed by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) from 1936 until 1942 as the supervisor of its sculpture and ceramics program - His work has appeared in public and private collections and he was included in - Americans 1942: 18 Artists From 9 States, Museum of Modern Art, New York 1942 - Provenance: Wright - Most likely work is unique.
