Artist Carey Parks displays a family of three frolicking on the beach. "In addition to capturing people in the city, one of the best places is at the beach because of the high contrasts and bright colors," says Carey. The kids have a blast while their mother observes from a short distance. Carey creates the piece from a photo taken at Misquamicut Beach in Rhode Island.

About the Artist
Carey Parks recreates the nostalgia of a family album in her familiar scenes. Some of her works actually take inspiration from her own photographs and places she has visited. She also creates up-close portraits and colorful landscapes. She frequently mixes paint directly on the canvas to create interesting color mixtures.
