Florence, October 22nd, 1946. One page, single-sided. In Italian. On letterhead paper "Istituto di Storia dell'Arte, sede in Pisa, Museo Nazionale, Lungarno Mediceo". Excellent condition.
A lovely thank-you letter written by the Italian art historian, Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti,to the Countess Pecci Blunt, for the pleasant visit at her Royal Villa in Marlia and for the "sublim dinner" spent together, conversing about art and history.
Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti (Lucca,1910 – Florence,1987)
The Italian art critic, historian, philosopher of art and politician, Carlo L. Ragghianti studied in Florence toghether with eugenio Montale, and after in Pisa, as a pupil of Matteo Marangoni His education was influenced by Benedetto Croce and by his theory of "pure visibility"; then he approached to the theories of Konrad Fiedler, Alois Riegl, Julius von Schlosser. He was remembered still today for his essays about cinema and entertainment industry as expressions of visual ar. In 1935 he founded together with Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli the magazine Critica d'arte. Ragghianti was among the founders of the Action Party and he organized armed resistance in Tuscany.
Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci- Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971)
Best-known as "Mimì" Pecci-Blunt , the Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!

The ancient, original document of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany was framed, in recent times, by a skilled Florentine master craftsman who used a frame in precious wood and painted gold.
