A happy dog sits proudly wearing his striped vest, black circular shades, and his red and white polka-dotted bowtie. "The character shows confidence," says artist Carolyn Pennor. A cerulean blue paints the background complementing the dog's color. Carolyn used a sponge to highlight the wall with a pale violet hue. Red accents top off and complete the painting. "He is ready to go about his day smartly dressed."
About the Artist
Carolyn’s subjects are inspired by everyday working people. Her aesthetic straddles the line between modern and folk, utilizing warm tones and simplified forms. The subjects in Carolyn’s paintings each tell a story. “When painting my characters I feel as though I have known them,†she says. After years of working in a banking environment, Carolyn is pleased to have transitioned to a more creative lifestyle. She now shares a studio with her husband, a fellow UGallery artist, and enjoys exercising her imagination and creativity.

About the Artist
A few months after Jessica JH Roller and her husband were married, they adopted two young Siamese cats from a shelter -- Tony and Larry. Jessica quickly fell deeply in love with the kittens and says the cats changed her. "They opened my eyes - I started to notice birds, trees, water, color, everything. It was as if the artist inside had been unleashed.†Jessica uses bold colors and primitive linework to create whimsical, expressive portraits. She intends to capture real or imagined moments that are both common and extraordinary.
