Artist Comments
Part of David's current series capturing the beauty of Cincinnati public parks and the abundance of scenic locations. A warm fall tree reaches gracefully toward a hearty hedge. The colors of the foliage are all pushed in intensity against the atmospheric sky and cool blue pathway.
About the Artist
David Forsthoefel uses an impressionistic approach to celebrate the variety of Midwest geology, fauna and seasonal color. He strives to capture an integrated blend of shape, color and tone that revels in the abstract qualities of the paint itself. David is a native of Dayton, Ohio, and now lives in Cincinnati. His interest in the visual arts began at a very young age, with early forays into drawing with Jon Gnagy and his Learn to Draw series on television. This first exposure sparked a life-long search for artistic expression that included a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Louisville, and a career as a commercial illustrator and designer. Since retiring, he has devoted much of his artistic energy to painting the natural landscape in and around Cincinnati. He is a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club, the Lexington Art Guild of Florida and the Transparent Watercolor Society. When not in his home studio, David helps care for his six grandchildren. He says he also has a serious golf habit that takes him outside to observe nature.

Artist Jennifer Ross paints a sunny and cheerful still life of a robin’s nest occupied with three eggs. Nestled within a carefully woven nook of grass and twigs, three blue eggs appear within its dark recesses. The nest is set against a white surface cut by a bright complementing yellow hue. “Robin’s egg blue is one of the most beautiful colors found in nature, and one found on my palette,†says Jennifer.

Artist Jo Galang displays a magical woodland path illuminated by the sun. "Walking through the woods is one thing I always look forward to," says Jo. She paints the sun peeking through the trees, leaving speckled patches of sunlight on the ground. It creates beautiful patterns of light and shadow that make the piece all the more captivating and exciting.
About the Artist
Artist Jo Galang expresses a quiet nostalgia in her airy interpretations of the landscapes and waterways of the Pacific Northwest. Her soft oil paintings capture the meditative sounds of rivers and waterfalls flowing past her easel. During the summer, she spends as much time as possible outside creating plein air sketches and studying the light on the landscape. As a young art student in the Philippines, Jo was privileged to study with the renowned painter Danilo Dalena, who she says encouraged her to be the artist she is today. "I believe my art looks simple enough that people have no idea how much time I have spent working on it," she says. When she is not painting, Jo and her husband enjoy taking road trips, playing cards and finding creative ways to spend time with their granddaughter.
