Typewritten Autograph Letter Signed by Dino Grandi to the Countess A.L. Pecci- Blunt. Bologna, April 10th 1967. Signed "Dino" in red ink. In Italian. On letterhead paper "Dino Grandi". One page, single-sided. Excellent conditions. Perfectly readable, original envelope included. Greeting letter with a balance of a whole life: "Faccio il contadino e debbo riconoscere che dal giorno in cui ho sostituito la compagnia degli uomini colla compagnia delle bestie, ho guadagnato in serenità e ricchezza interiore." "Now, I am a farmer and I have toadmit that since the day I replaced the company of men with the company of beasts, I have gained in serenity and inner wealth". Dino Grandi (Mordano, 1895 - Bologna, 1988) Dino Grandi was an Italian politician and diplomat, who went down in history for the presentation of the homonymous agenda to the Grand Council of Fascism on 25 July 1943 which led to the dismissal of Benito Mussolini. He was foreign minister, minister of Grace and Justice and ambassador to London of the Kingdom of Italy. He was active in the pop art movement of the 60s. Biography: Gee was born on July 23, 1932 in Leicestershire, England. He was interested in drawing as a child and worked as a graphic designer for the British army when he joined at the age of 18. By the end of the 50s, he had exhibited at the Denise Rene Gallery in Paris, where he lived briefly, and the Axiom Gallery in London. He came to the US in 1962. Throughout the 60s, Gee experienced a high degree of success as a pop artist in Manhattan. His work from this era has been collected by The Museum of Modern Art in both New York City and Kyoto, The Smithsonian and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Gee exhibited with Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana for the "Word and Image" show in 1968 at the Museum of Modern Art. During this time, he was also teaching classes at the New School, the School of Visual Arts, and the Harvard Architectural School. María Noël was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 25th, 1965. She studied Fine Arts at the Prilidiano Pueyrredón Higher School of Fine Arts, in Buenos Aires. She also studied philosophy and art history at the Philosophy and Literature School of the University of Buenos Aires. She was a regular student with prestigious Argentine artists Aurelio Macchi, Alberto Delmonte and Luis Barragán, who all left the deepest imprint. A tireless traveler, she has visited countries in the East and the West. In 1989-1990 she lived in Naples (Italy) and Milan. During a stay in Cairo in 1990, she learned techniques for paper manufacturing and the use of vegetable dyes. A daughter and a granddaughter of Argentinian writers, literature is a main character in her work. She has series of paintings and collages dedicated to J. L. Borges, Octavio Paz, Juan de la Cruz, Paul Valery and Fernando Pessoa...
