Official request of courtesy of the Countess' Portrait of Jean Cocteau by Modigliani, in occason of a new Modigliani retrospective for the Kunsthalle of Basilea. An anticipation by the general secretary of the Italian Quadriennale di Roma. T.L.S. Rome, April 5th 1961. Addressed to Silvio Perina, collector and owner of the Female Nude by Casorati. Official request of technical information concerning this artwork, usefull to fill in the Dictionary of the Worldwide Painting, published by Kindler u. Schiermeyer, Munich. Born in Pisa in 1907 he moved to Rome where he found a lucky career as writer, art critic and essayist. Animator of the artistic life of the capital, he was linked to a large group of Romanists, including Mons. Ennio Francia. He becomes general secretary of the Rome Quadriennale, as these letters demonstrate.

Enciclopedia Italiana- T.L.S. is a Typewritten Letter Signed by Giovanni Gentile to Ugo Ojetti. Rome, November 9th 1935. In Italian. One page, single-sided. On letterhead "Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana fondata da Giovanni Treccani , Roma". Excellent conditions, with some blue pencil signs. The Director of the Italian Encyclopedia, Giovanni Gentile, writes to Ugo Ojetti, one of the institute members, to assure the Countess Pecci-Blunt that Villa Marlia will be mentioned under the entry "Villa" in the encyclopedia. The Ugo Ojetti's business card is attached and reports Ojetti's autograph notes of greetings. Giovanni Gentile (Castelvetrano, 1875 - Florence, 1944) Italian philosopher, pedagogist, politician and academic, Giovanni Gentile, together with Benedetto Croce, was one of the greatest exponents of Italian philosophical neo-idealism and idealism, as well as an important protagonist of Italian culture in the first half of the twentieth century, co-founder of the Institute of Encyclopedia Italiana and, as minister, creator, in 1923, of the reform of public education known as the Gentile Reform.
