This is a Autograph Letter Signed by François Le Grix, to the Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci Blunt. Paris, June 9th 1939. In French. Two pages, double-sided. Excellent condition, including original envelope. On letterhead paper "La Revue Hebdomadaire - Le Directeur". Perfectly readable. This is a Thank-you letter written by the director of La Revue Hebdomadaire, Le Grix, accepting the Countess Pecci Blunt's lunch invitation. Le Grix expresses himself with uncertain words, because his mother died few days ago and he is not yet sure what to do. La Revue Hebdomadaire was a French literary weekly review founded in 1892 by Fernand Laudet and published until 1939. In 1908, this review absorbed Le Monde moderne and femme today.After having been its secretary in the 1910s, then its editor in chief in November 1920, succeeding René Moulin, François Le Grix (1881-1966) became its director from October 1922 to 1939. Countess Anna Laetitia Pecci-Blunt (Rome, 1885 - Marlia, 1971) Best-known as "Mimì" Pecci-Blunt , the Italian noblewoman was an art collector, patron and nephew of Pope Leo XIII. Extremely volcanic, she was very active in the cultural field, opening numerous lounges, galleries and theaters. In 1919 she married Cecil Blumenthal, later changed to Blunt, a wealthy Jewish banker from New York, heir to an important collection of nineteenth-century French painting. His Parisian and Roman salons was frequented by artists and intellectuals of the caliber of Salvador Dalì, Paul Valery, Poulenc, Paul Claudel, and Aldo Palazzeschi!

He was active in the pop art movement of the 60s. Biography: Gee was born on July 23, 1932 in Leicestershire, England. He was interested in drawing as a child and worked as a graphic designer for the British army when he joined at the age of 18. By the end of the 50s, he had exhibited at the Denise Rene Gallery in Paris, where he lived briefly, and the Axiom Gallery in London. He came to the US in 1962. Throughout the 60s, Gee experienced a high degree of success as a pop artist in Manhattan. His work from this era has been collected by The Museum of Modern Art in both New York City and Kyoto, The Smithsonian and the Library of Congress in Washington DC, and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
