About the Item

Autograph Card Signed by Giuseppe Raimondi, addressed to Mino Maccari. On letterhead paper "Ditta Torquato Raimondi, Bologna" of the family company. 15 x 10 cm. Bologna, June 15th, 1948. Perfect conditions. Signed "Giuseppe Raimondi". Letter of Request for a meeting with and commissioning a Raimondi's portrait by Mino Maccari, the irreverent satirical artist. Giuseppe Raimondi (Bologna, 1898-1985) Son of artisans, he always looked at the political and social events of his time. In 1918, he founded a literary magazine, La Raccolta, which anticipated some aspects of Ronda, of which he was the youngest collaborator. Happy that the Biennale Prize was awarded to Maccari, he wished he could paint a portrait of him and would like to meet him between Rome, Florence, and Bologna. Raimondi, always surrounded by artists, also became a fine art critic, fully understanding the works of De Pisis and Morandi. Mino Maccari (Siena, 1898 – Rome, 1989) was a popular Italian painter and engraver. He produced many artworks through different graphic techniques. He exhibited at important international exhibitions in the fields of art and graphics. In 1959, he became the director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome; in 1963, he won Antonio Feltrinelli's prize for painting and became president of the San Luca Academy. He realized many lithographs and etchings of satirical and political subject matters. He was also famous for erotic and sexual drawings. He has worked for many years at Il Mondo.
